Things to Do in Cold Bay, Alaska
From world-class waterfowl hunting to wandering the WWII ruins of Fort Randall.
Cold Bay is a small community with an outsized wilderness backyard. Most visitors come for one of five things: waterfowl and big-game hunting, saltwater and river fishing, wildlife and photography, aviation history, or the raw solitude of the Alaska Peninsula.
Start at the Izembek visitor kiosk to orient yourself, then head out toward Grants Point for lagoon views and brant sightings. Rent a truck to reach the old Fort Randall coastal batteries and the west road toward the refuge.
Weather changes fast — pack layers, waterproof boots, and don't count on cell service outside town.
